Actually the guy says he's her step-father. He has a store and by request of his wife (the girl's mother) he got her a job there during the Summer so she earn some money and be occupied. What her mother doesn't know is that she has a deal with her step-father that every time she wants to go out with her friends during working hours she has to give that time to her boss in advance so he won't take it from her salary.
